Following Missouri mass shooting, new fundraiser honors slain hero

Shield Republic Charities to run ‘Hold the Line’ apparel fundraiser for family of Springfield police officer Christopher Walsh

Raleigh, Mar 17, 2020 (Issuewire.com) - Amid the chaos of the global coronavirus pandemic forcing shut-downs everywhere, a shooter went on a rampage at a gas station in Springfield, Missouri, killing four. Among the casualties were police officer Christopher Walsh, a 32-year-old Army veteran and active Army reservist who had served with the Springfield Police Department for more than three and a half years.

At 11 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, a car crashed into a Kum & Go on East Chestnut Expressway. Shortly after, a gunman opened fire inside the store, killing Officer Walsh, who with another officer had raced to the scene to stop the shooter. The shooter later died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound after killing Walsh and three others in the store.
